I am excited to begin the school year at Silva Magnet High School. I look forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones.
Teaching you is a tremendous responsibility and I will do my best to ensure that each student has a safe and motivating learning experience this year. However I cannot do this without the help of you and your parents. We are partners in the learning process.
I believe that student-parent-teacher relationships are necessary for maximum school success. I update this website daily with information about what is currently going on in class and what is on the horizon for you and/or your student. Please feel free to check this page often. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions for concerns at any time. You can call me at the school, send me a written note, contact me through Parent Portal or contact me via email. I am located in room 203 at Silva and my conference periods are 2nd period and 7th period.
We will be delving into the arena of the "flipped classroom" quite a bit more this year than in the past. This means students will be watching introductory lessons at home, taking notes, and then coming to class and putting the new skills to practice. If you have any issues with this kind of use of technology at home, please contact me as soon as possible and I will make arrangements with you.
Each student should have a binder for my class, and the first paper in every student's binder is my syllabus. The syllabus lists our course outline for the entire year, my class rules, and discipline plan. All of these are in line with El Paso Independent School District, Silva Magnet High School, and/or The College Board. Please contact me if you need a copy of the syllabus.
Here's to a wonderful year!
